If 2025 was the year Apple changed how its software looked, 2026 is the year it has become clearer about how that design should behave.
At WWDC25, Apple introduced Liquid Glass across its platforms. We covered that shift in Apple’s Liquid Glass Design from WWDC 25, including the questions it raised around readability, visual overload and whether the effect was always helping the user.
A year later, Liquid Glass is still here, but Apple’s 2026 updates put more emphasis on restraint, legibility, adaptability, familiar interactions and user control. The result is less of another redesign and more of a set of guardrails around the redesign Apple introduced last year.
